Blogging Communitites

A blogging community is a generic reference of the blogosphere itself. The blogging community plays a significant role in the internet community.

A blog cannot maintain without a blogging community. In order to maintain a blog, it is vital for us to create a community within a blog. There are lots of ways to create a blogging community; these include: allowing comments from readers, sharing links of blogs of your blogging community members and creating a forum for discussion among your readers.


White (2006) has categorized the blogging community into three fractions:

• Single Blog Centric Community is the establishment of a community around the primary blogger.

• Central Connecting Topic Community is the establishment of a community between blogs based on shared interests.

• The Boundaried Community can also be referred to as a social networking site with a collection of blogs hosted on a single site.

An example of a blogging community is Xanga. Xanga is one the world’s largest blogging community. It is basically as blogging community that enables its users to post blog entries, share photos and videos. Apart from that, Xanga also works as a social networking site, which allows users to befriend other members on the website. This site can be considered as a Boundaried Community.
